Udupi, Jun 24: Speedy winds kept blowing along with the rain and  severely affected areas of Udupi taluk.

In the last 24 hours, national highway 17 which passes through Udupi taluk was blocked as a result of trees falling across. Traffic was blocked for long hours.

In the Kaup MESCOM limits,  about 45 electric poles have collapsed with the loss put at Rs 5 lac.

In areas like Yellur, Majur, Uchil, Mallar and Uliaragoli village limits, many houses and temples have been damaged by falling tree.

On the other hand, sea erosion has worsened. Many houses are in danger now. Tiles of many houses along the seashore have flown off with the blow of winds.
