Mangalore, Jun 23: The last couple of days have been nothing short of a nightmare for the people of the city, thanks to the incessant rains that have been lashing the region.

The heavy rains and the accompanying wind caused heavy damage to houses in many parts of the city and uprooted several trees.

Many of the houses especially in the inner parts of the city were heavily damaged. The torrential rain coupled with strong winds uprooted even a fully-grown coconut tree which smashed in to a nearby house.

A big boulder rolled off landing in front of a house completing blocking its enntrance. Meanwhile the locals got together to move the boulder and move the uprooted trees from the house roofs using ropes and other means.
