Mumbai, Jun 23: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan says that he has no plans to turn to politics like many other popular Indian stars.

``I'm an artist not an activist by profession. But I contribute to society by speaking up and supporting what I think is right,'' Aamir told a newspaper. ``And let me clarify that politics is not for me.''

Aamir added that every Indian must stand up for causes they truly believe in.

``I feel it's every Indian's responsibility to speak up and support causes they feel strongly about,'' Aamir said.

While acting remained his first priority, Aamir said he would always speak up for issues he was committed to.

Last year Aamir angered right-wing political activists in Gujarat when he criticised a massive dam project that would render thousands homeless.

Hindu nationalists of the Bharatiya Janata Party prevented the release of his movie Fanaa in Gujarat in protest.

Meanwhile, living up to his the perfectionist part, Aamir is taking his character in the Hindi remake of Ghajini more seriously.

Aamir is toning his body by undergoing rigorous exercise and strict diet regime under the guidance of his instructor Satyajit Desai and has succeeded in reducing his weight by 11 kg. He is working to reduce it further to bring it to the targeted 68 kg.

Aamir will also be shaving his head for a part of the film.
