Mangalore, Jun 22:  The entire coastal belt has been receiving heavy rains in the last couple of days.  Incessant rains have already resulted in loss to life and property in many places.

An electric transformer was damaged near welcome arch at Gurpur-Polali on Friday June 22.  A huge tree fell on the high tension live-wire in front of Rosa Mystic Convent at Gurpur.  This resulted in damaging the electric transformer.  As a result power supply has been disrupted in the area.

The MESCOM sources said that it is not possible to restore power supply until Saturday June 23 morning owing to torrential rains.  However, they have already undertaken the repair works.

Elsewhere many more low-lying areas along the Netravati river bank have submerged owing to incessant rains in the last 24 hours. Netravati river has been over flowing, owing to heavy rains for the past two days.  Kajila village near Polali is underwater and Netravati's flow has put several other areas under danger of getting submerged.
