Puttur, Jun 22: A High Court ruling has directed Hatyadka Cooperative Industrial bank to surrender 3 acres of land under Shibaje reserve forest area to the forest department at the earliest.

The court in its judgment stated that the agreement made between the bank and the forest department was expired and hence directed the bank to surrender the land after clearance of all the buildings constructed by the bank.

Earlier when the forest department had claimed for the land from the Bank, the latter approached the court. As per the court’s order, the forest officer had sent a notice on Friday June 8 to the bank seeking the clearance of all buildings and return the land.

Bank executive officer D Kinni Gowda responding to the court order said that the lease agreement was signed in 1960 and it was for 99 years.
