Puttur, Jun 22: The counterfeit currency which was found at Kadaba near here has created panic among the locals who suspect that the racket is still active in the area.  Many counterfeit notes have been detected in local banks recently.

A fake note of Rs 500 was detected by the officer in a bank while being deposited by a customer a couple of days ago.  The bank officials filed a complaint with the police in this regard immediately.

A similar case has also been reported from a Cooperative Society when a counterfeit note was detected in a similar manner on Wednesday Jun 20.

However, the locals blame the police for not taking interest in busting the racket.
