Mangalore, Jun 21: Jeppu Sports Association will organise a state-level powerlifting competition for men and women seniors at Town Hall here from Friday June 22 to Sunday June 24.

Speaking at a press meet here on Wednesday June 20, state Powerlifting Association secretary Satish Kumar Kudroli said that the programme will be inaugurated by Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar at 5.30 pm. Former minister Ramanath Rai will preside.

The chief guests will be MCC health and Social Justice standing committee former chairman Mahabala Marla, entrepreneur Prabhakar Yeyyadi and Satish Kumar Kudroli.

The selection of sub-junior level for girls and boys will also be held on the occasion.

Over 250 weightlifters are expected to take part and the winners will represent the state in the national-level competition to be held in Kollam, Kerala, he said.

The valedictory will be held on June 24 at 5.30 pm. The programme will be presided over by MCC commissioner Krishnappa Poojary.

Trophies will be distributed to the winners by Ullal MLA U T Khader, Sports Promoters’ Club president A Sadanand Shetty.

Former mayor Purandardas Kuloor, former corporator Premanand Shetty, entrepreneur Lokesh Bolar and Association vice-president are expected to be present.
