Bangalore, Jun 21: The former president of the Bommanahalli City Municipal Council Krishnappa, who has been booked on charge of dowry harassment and murder following the suspicious death of his daughter-in-law on June 13, is still under treatment at NIMHANS.

Sources in the city police told The Hindu that Krishnappa was admitted to hospital in the early hours of Tuesday as he was shocked after learning that his son Vijay Kumar (26) committed suicide on Monday. His condition is said t o be critical.

The police, investigating the murder of Krishnappa’s daughter-in-law, Archana (22), said they would arrest him once he recovers and was discharged from hospital. According to the police, Krishnappa has been at large since June 13. Archana’s husband Vijay Kumar, an accused in the case, hanged himself at his relative’s house in Jambusavaridinne in Hulimavu police station limits Monday afternoon. He had married Archana of Yelahanka six months ago.

On a complaint by Archana’s father, Pillappa, Parappana Agrahara police had registered a case of dowry harassment and murder against Krishnappa, his wife Narayanamma, and Vijay Kumar.
