Mangalore, Jun 11: A young woman from Bangalore, who had come along with her friends to the city, was washed way by high sea wave at estuary near Thotabengre near here on Sunday June 10.

The deceased has been identified as Smitha K Bongale(23), daughter of Dr Krishna P Bongale of 'Subbanna Garden' at Vijaynagar in Bangalore and an employee of Accenture in Bangalore. As per police accounts she had come to her colleague Sandhya's house with her four friends. The tragedy occurred when all of them had gone to the beach for a stroll. A huge wave washed her away when she was playing in the water with her friends.

The fishermen present there tried their level best to save her life but the sea was so turbulent that they were unable to help her. Later her body was fished out from the sea. Panambur police have registered the case.
