Bantwal, Jun 11: The total value of the jewellery robbed from a jewellery in Bantwal town on Saturday June 9 night,  has been estimated at Rs 63.27 lac besides cash worth Rs 1.7 lakh.

As reported earlier the dacoits numbering 6 attacked the well-known jewellery shop belonging to B Suresh V Baliga and looted the shop by pointing revolver at them. The dacoits created disorder by exploding a crude bomb outside the shop and thereby scattering the people inside as well as surrounding area.  They fled with the booty from the shop within 5 minutes.

In this regard IGP H N Satyanarayana Rao visited the spot. According to him he suspected it to be the work of the inter-state dacoits. Three special teams have been formed to nab the dacoits.
 
As per preliminary investigation it has been brought to light that a group of 10 persons booked into a hotel room at B C Road. But they had given a Coimbatore address. As per the hotel staff all of them were between the age group of 25 to 30 which was similar to that of the dacoits who looted the shops.

Additional SP B Lokesh Kumar and district-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty also visited the spot.
