Panaji, Jun 6: Different family histories were written by June two Goa polls with only two families managing to get both their members elected on the Goa state legislative assembly.
Goa chief minister Pratapsingh Rane and his son, Vishwajeet, both fought successfully from Poriem and Valpoi constituencies respectively. Vishwajeet, had contested as an independent candidate from Valpoi constituency, after he was denied congress ticket while the chief minister was a congress candidate in Poriem.

Similarly, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak party (MGP) has both the legislators belonging to the same family -- Dhavlikars. Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, minister in the Rane cabinet, managed to retain his Madkai seat for third consecutive time while his younger brother, Dipak, defeated BJP's candidate Vishwas Satarkar in Priol constituency.
Dipak is the first-time entrant into Goa legislative assembly.
Also Alemao brothers - Churchill and Joaquim - managed to be victorious in their respective constituencies. Churchill, Save Goa Front president, defeated heavyweight Congressman Luizinho Faleiro while Joaquim won on Congress ticket from Navelim.
Besides these three success stories, rest of the families had a bitter experience this election.
Wife Jennifer the loser, husband Atanasio the winner
The Monserrate couple had the husband winning from Taleigao constituency while wife could not sail through in St Cruz constituency. Controversial former town and country planning minister Atanasio Monserrate, who was alleged to be the mastemind behind Regional Plan 2011, had rebelled from Congress and joined United Goans Democratic party (UGDP) as Congress denied the ticket to his wife. Both of them had contested on UGDP ticket.
Sanvordem constituency saw a bitter family history where Vinay Tendulkar (BJP) was crossing swords with his brother-in-law Pradip Naik (Congress). The voters rejected both the family members and gave a huge victory to independent candidate Anil Salgaoncar, a mine-owner, who had lost in 2002 elections.
Similarly, Dayanand Narvekar, minister in Rane cabinet, who contested on Congress ticket from Aldona constituency, won the seat while his brother Subhash, who contested on Janata Dal (S) ticket from Mapusa constituency lost to BJP's sitting MLA Fransisco D'Souza.
Dayanand Narvekar had pulled up his sleeves to ensure victory of his brother and had even addressed a public rally from the JD (s) platform, apparently, revolting against the party's stand.
In yet another incident, Deshprabhu brothers who were contesting from Pernem and Mandrem constituency, lost. Jitendra Deshprabhu, sitting Congress legislator lost in the Congress bastion in Pernem while his brother Devendra Deshprabhu, who was contesting as an independent from neighbouring Mandrem constituency too lost.
