Udupi, Jun 5: The 65th birthday of writer-cum-poet Shantharam Aithal was celebrated at Hotel Kediyoor here on Sunday June 3. Aithal’s collection of satire ‘Majjige’ was released on the occasion.

The programme was organized under the auspices of Suhasa, a literary association.

Shimoga Subbanna made the evening a memorable one to house-full audience. He also lent his voice to saintly poet Shishunala Sharif’s composition ‘Kodagana Koli Nungitha’.

Humorist-satirist Dhundiraj entertained audience with witty speeches.

Writer and principal of MGM College Jayaprakash Mavinakuli and advocate A S N Hebbar were among the audience who enjoyed the evening to the hilt.

Writer Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, theatre artiste H Shantharam, DK Kannada Sahithya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and consumer activist Damodar Aithal and others were present.
