Mangalore, Jun 4:  M Ajit Kumar has been taken charge as the commissioner of Central Excise and Customs in city.

Before being appointed as the commissioner of Central Excise of city he served as commissioner of Chennai Customs House (export) and commissioner (appeals), Chennai Customs.

Ajit Kumar hails from Calicut in Kerala. He joined the customs and central excise service in 1984. He served at Central Excise in Chennai, Narcotics Control Bureau in Chennai, and was the director of Vigilance in New Delhi, Air Customs of New Delhi, Customs House of Cochin and Directorate of Systems in Chennai.
