Udupi, Jun 1: In order to promote excellence in the field of life sciences, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is looking ahead for partnership with private educational institutions.

Speaking at the annual day celebrations of Manipal Life Sciences Centre here on Wednesday May 30, chief controller of research and development, DRDO W Selvamurthy said that DRDO will join hands with Manipal Life Sciences Centre.

He further said that the 21st century is an era of life science whereas 20th century was of technology.

He further said that partnerships with private trusts and government organizations are vital for the growth of quality education and research.

While in the olden days it was universities like Nalanda Takshila that were the centre of the knowledge revolution, in this period, institutions like Manipal Life Sciences Centre will play a major role in the growth of the knowledge, he opined.

To build up creativity among students there should be a strong connectivity between industries and academic institutions, he added.
