Panaji, May 29: Noted international pop singer Remo Fernandes of Goa on Tuesday called for boycotting'' of the June 2 State Assembly polls, as the electorate have to choose between'' Saturn and Narakasur''.

"Boycott the elections as the voter has to choose either the Saturn or the Narakasur. Both are known evil forces," Padma Shri Remo told UNI.

The only option left with is imposition of the President's Rule till the electorate has the choice of having good candidates with character and conduct, he said.

"We have robbers in politics, raping the country. Till we have the good candidates, we should have the President's rule. I can't see the corrupt and communal forces at the helm of affairs," he quipped.

He was also critical of the regional parties in Goa which, he said, have been trying to "sell themselves out".

Corruption, he said, has seeped into the very core of our body politic and we have to get rid of it, the singer added.

Remo had played a significant role in joining chorus with the Goa Bachao Andolan, which forced the Pratapsinh Rane government to withdraw the controversial Regional Plan-2011 that was expected to deface the very contours of Goa if enforced.

The agitation had also resulted in resignation of the then Town and Country Planing Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, the author of the Plan, who has now switched over to the UGDP from the Congress to retain his Taliegao assembly constituency.
