NASA lets you listen to sounds meant for aliens

Washington, July 29 (IANS): Now you can listen to sounds which are meant for aliens to hear as NASA has posted the 'Golden Record' on online audio distribution platform Soundcloud.

'Golden Record' is the collection of sounds that NASA selected to be sent on the Voyager spacecraft that launched in 1977.

The intention was to take impressions of our world right out to the edge of interstellar space, the Next Web reported.

NASA's Carl Sagan chaired the committee to decide what sounds were included. "The spacecraft will get the record played only if there are advanced spacefaring civilisations in interstellar space," he was quoted as saying.

The intention would have been to introduce the aliens to the life on Earth or "the pale blue dot" as Sagan would call it.

Now, we can easily listen to the sounds on the Golden Record.

They have been on the web for a while but in poor quality and scattered around, that is why NASA has finally put high-quality versions online.

SoundCloud enables its users to upload, record, promote, and share their originally-created sounds.
