Kundapur, May 25: Gangolli police inspector B M Timmaraju has filed chargesheet against 9 members of a family with regard to a dowry harassment case.

The chargesheet has been filed as per the complaint filed by Renuka Poojarti, daughter of Rama Poojary of Kodapadi near Gujjadi here.

She had stated that she was harassed by her husband Anand Poojary, a resident of Sastan near Brahmavar, his mother Basavi, brothers Bhaskar, Rama, sister Suguna, sister-in-law Baby Poojarti, brother-in-law Madhukar and niece Namita.  Accordingly she had filed a case in the Gangolli police station in this regard.

Renuka had married Anand on December 1, 2004 in Shivakripa Kalyana Mantapa at Sastan.  Anand had taken Rs 1 lac and ornaments in the form of dowry then.  However, within a year, he along with his family members started harassing Renuka for more dowry.

Finally she was pushed out from her husband's house.  All efforts made by Renuka and her parents to settle the dispute went in vain since Anand and his family did not respond well.  They finally lodged a complaint with the Gangolli police in this regard.
