Mumbai, Jul 21: The sensuous and pious damsel Ahalya who is described to be so beautiful, that Indra took the form of her husband to seduce her, has been brought to life by Radhika Apte, in Sujoy Ghosh's upcoming venture of the same name. With Radhika Apte, Sujoy has cast veteran Bengali actor, Soumitra Chatterjee. The trailer of the 14 minute short movie has been released and is quite intriguing.

The trailer of the movie on YouTube shows Radhika wearing a sleeveless shift ushering in a police man into her house and showing him the way to the living room of her house. The policeman seems smitten with her body and is soon seen talking an older gentleman who gives him a magical stone that allows the bearer to turn into anyone. The suspense is built bit by bit through the trailer.

Speaking to the media, about his work, Sujoy said, "The entire experience of making Ahalya was very challenging yet interesting. For me, both Ramayana and Mahabharata are the greatest books ever and the unending wealth of stories in these two books is undisputed. The story of Ahalya always remained with me because in my younger days I found it very funny what happened with Lord Indra. The curse of Goutama sadhu has always stayed in my mind but in an amusing way."

Sujoy Ghosh's modern take on the mystical story where the wife of Rishi Gautam, who was said to be very beautiful and very devoted to her husband was cursed by her husband for being unfaithful. Ahalya was tricked by Indra who took on the disguise of Ahalya's husband to seduce her.

Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films are behind the release of the film, and they are a portal focused on giving budding film makers a platform to showcase their short films with large ideas, and is available on YouTube channel.
