Bangalore, May 22:
Addressing the media here, P V Jayalakshmi a nurse by profession who had recently made serious charges of blackmail against BJP legislator Renukacharya alleged that he had intimidated her into posing for provocative photographs.

The Renukacharya-Jayalakshmi controversy turned murkier on Monday with the latter releasing three photographs that showed the MLA getting intimate with her.

Addressing the media in Bangalore, P V Jayalakshmi - a nurse by profession who had recently made serious charges of blackmail against BJP legislator Renukacharya - alleged that he had intimidated her into posing for the provocative photographs.

“I was forced to release these photographs as he has been making contemptuous allegations against me. I know that my name will be defamed when I show these photos, but I want to expose the misdeeds of the elected representative,” she stated.

Blackmail

Jayalakshmi had recently attempted suicide by consuming poison, alleging that he had been blackmailing her for the last several years and she was fed up with the harassment. She further alleged that the MLA had taken many photographs of her, forcing her to pose provocatively. He had been blackmailing her emotionally and had threatened to release the photos to the media, Jayalakshmi charged.

“It is shameful that a people’s representative is harassing and blackmailing a woman in this manner,” she said. Renukacharya still keeps calling her frequently and threatens to kill her.

Challenging him to prove his claim that she was married, she threatened to release a CD in the coming days. “I have a CD of the photos, which will be released shortly,” she stated.

When reporters pointed out that the photographs indicated that she had consented to getting intimate with Renukacharya, Jayalakshmi claimed that he had forced her to do so.

She reiterated that her efforts to seek justice have been in vain as the police is reluctant to lodge a complaint.

“I had even complained to Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, while providing proof. But nothing happened,” she said. She alleged that even the State Women’s Commission Chairman Pramila Nesargi refused to provide justice, so she has now approached the Central Women’s Commission.
BJP President D V Sadananda Gowda said that the Renukacharya incident had already been reported to the Central Parliamentary Board.

“ Renukacharya has been directed not to attend party functions or gatherings. We have done all that needs to be done, we have left out nothing,” he said.

The State BJP Chief said that Renukacharya had already submitted his resignation, saying that he is innocent and was being victimised.

When asked why his resignation had not been accepted, Gowda said that Renukacharya was yet to be proven guilty.

“The party does not like to take action on an innocent person unless he is proven otherwise,” he said.
Investigation into the issue is going on and the party will take action only after the truth comes out, he added.

BJP legislator Renukacharya said that the photos released by Jayalakshmi on Monday have been “technologically manipulated”.

“As the issue is being probed, I am not supposed to speak about it... I do not want to comment on it,” Renukacharya told Deccan Herald over telephone. “It is not true that I had spent time with her... I have not spent even a single minute with her. She is only trying to tarnish my image and politically finish me by using technology.

“Jayalakshmi has given a statement in writing to Chandra Layout police station that she does not have even a photo or a CD. Now, she has to say where she got these photos from. It is a political game plan.”
