Panaji, May 21: Leader of opposition L K Advani on Monday termed the three-year-old, Dr Manmohan Singh-led UPA government as the "most inefficient government in the country."

Launching BJP's Goa election campaign, Advani stated that during the UPA government, which will complete its three years in power tomorrow, there had been immense loss to the nation during the past three years as government was not able to perform.

"I have seen governments right from Pt Jawaharlal Nehru's days till now... But I can label this one (UPA-led government) as the most inefficient government," Advani said while addressing a huge rally in Panaji which kickstarted BJP's formal election campaign in the state for June two Goa legislative assembly polls.

"Whether Jammu and Kashmir issue or Nexalism issue or terrorism, the reputation of Prime minister's chair has been tarnished during last three years," the senior BJP leader said.

Recalling that before entering politics in 70's he was a journalist, Advani said that he has analysed all the governments and he would label the current central government has the worst one.

Flanked by BJP's general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Goa BJP unit chief Shripad Naik, Goa's leader of opposition Manohar parrikar and others, Advani also led a scathing attack on Congress' misrule in Goa during last two years.

"Being small in size, having literate population and immense beauty to reckon with, Goa has a potential to become number one state in the country and a model state in the world," Advani said in his 25-minute speech.

He said that the BJP will never ask votes on caste or religion basis. "When we ask, we ask vote for national integration. It is the BJP which is in last sixty years have been laying down the agenda of public debate in elections. We have our public debate agenda of good and honest governance," Advani said.

The leader of opposition said that in Goa too, the BJP is reaching the electorate with the agenda of honest and good governance.

Expecting that the Goan electorate would vote BJP to power, Advani recalled how the party had changed the face of Bihar where development was never a criterion for asking votes. "We went to the people with development as an agenda and people supported us," he said.
