Bantwal, May 19: Just as Friday May 18 began with a fatal accident near Mangalore, Saturday May 19 too reported another fatal accident near Kalladka.  One person was killed when a Mangalore-bound private bus collided with a Bangalore-bound lorry on National Highway 48 near Kalladka on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as lorry driver Abdul Khadar, a resident of Mumbai.  Bus driver Anand Poojary and several other passengers have sustained injuries in the accident.

Sugama private bus plying between Mangalore and Bangalore was on its way to Mangalore when the accident occurred.  A manganese ore lorry after unloading ore at Mangalore was on its way to Bangalore.  It is said that though the bus driver tried his best to evade the accident and drove the bus to extreme left side of the road, lorry came and collided.

As s result Abdul Khadar was caught in between two vehicles and died on the spot.  Police as well as locals had to put in maximum efforts to remove his body.

It was only a couple of days ago that a private bus coming from Bangalore had met with accident near Nelyadi. One person had died in the accident.

Bantwal police have registered a case in this regard.
