Bangalore, May 16: When Sukanya, a BPO employee left for work on May 7, she had planned to celebrate her 21st birthday with her friends later in the evening. But that was the last anyone saw of the BPO employee, whose body was found in a flat in Tilaknagar on Monday night, next to her boy friend’s lodgings.

An accountant at Cyber Tech Communication Ltd Company in BTM Layout, Sukanya stayed with her parents in Weaver’s Colony in Gottigere.

On Monday night, Sebastian, the owner of JD Towers in Tilaknagar, sensed a foul smell emanating from Flat No 301 and he entered it, only to find her partially decomposed body inside. The flat was vacant for the last two years. Police said that Sukanya had been smothered to death and her body was stuffed into three sacks, all stitched up neatly. There were no injuries on her body.

Police said that Sudhakar (24), whom Sukanya was friendly with, stayed in Flat No 302, but he is now absconding. A native of Gulbarga, Sudhakar has been working in Blue Chip Marketing Private Ltd for the last five years.

"His employer Sampath Kumar owned the flat, but he had allowed Sudhakar to stay there without charging rent. The girl used to visit Sudhakar everyday and he had told me that she was his cousin," Sebastian, the building owner told this paper. Apparently, Sukanya met Sudhakar when she was working in Blue Chip two years ago.

Sukanya’s mother Janakamma told this paper that her daughter had left home at 8.30 am on May 7. "Her friends called me at 10 pm and said that Sukanya had switched off her cellphone. When we tried to call her, we got the same response," she said. The parents did not lodge a missing complaint, because they were aware of her relationship with Sudhakar and apparently did not want to create a bad situation.

"On May 8, we enquired with the company and we found that she had not reported to work," she said.

On May 9, Sampath Kumar contacted Sebastian, asking for Sudhakar’s whereabouts as he had disappeared after stealing Rs 70,000 from the company.

"We found the flat locked and we put another lock on the door, so that he would not enter it," said Sebastian.

According to the police, Sukanya’s father Narayana Swamy, mother Janakamma and her cousin Jaganathan had visited JD Towers on Saturday in search of Sudhakar.

"They told me that Sudhakar had asked them to come to the apartment and that Sukanya was there," said Sebastian.

Sudhakar is absconding since May 8 and he had last contacted his brother Anil telling him not to go to the apartment as he would not be there.Police have picked up Anil and Sudhakar’s friend Eshwar for questioning.
