Mangalore, May 16: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will organize the tabletop exercise at Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) here on Monday May 28.

The tabletop exercise includes a mock drill in which 13 identified departments including the hospitals, police, Mescom, RTO, MCC and other organizations will be taking part, said the NDMA specialist (training and capacity building) and vice-chairman B K Khanna, speaking to the reporters.

Referring to the tabletop exercise, Khanna said that it was pertaining to the chemical industrial disaster mock drill and the whole machinery was designed to check the disaster.

He added that the NDMA was constituted in 2005 with the prime minister as its chairman.

He further said that the body lays down the policy and guidelines of disaster management throughout the country and takes up tabletop exercise in times of emergency.
