Mangalore, May 15: Whole world is not interested in having a project like Nagarjuna.   So it is not necessary to have in our district too, thundered Vijay Kumar Shetty, executive committee president of Nagarjuna Virodhi Horata Samiti.

He was addressing a press conference here in the press club organized by Youth Wing of Jama'at-e-Islami-Hind on Tuesday May 15 morning.  He further said that i this project comes to force it will affect the nature and the fishermen.  Nagarjuna is not only an anti-human project but even anti-God project. 

Capitalists think that the earth and rivers are their own and they can make use of it as they want.  It is the same case at Yellur and surrounding areas where the capitalists are grabbing the land for their selfish purposes.

Youth wing has stated that they are not opposing the development of the district but are concerned with the health of the people at large. “When there is a chance of more power production in the power plant of Raichur what is the reason that Nagarjuna and Tadadi projects are dumped on the people without their consultation,?” it questioned.

Mangalore University professor and head of Chair in Christianity Fr John Fernandes,  president of Mogaveera Mahajana sabha Shekhar Suvarna, convener of Youth Wing Mahammd Kunhi, executive committee member of Youth wing Mohammad Muhsin, president of Nagarjuna Virodhi Horata Samiti Laxman Shetty and district president of Yuva Shakti Harish Padukere were also present at the press conference.
