Mangalore, May 15: BJP candidate Chandrashekhar Uchil will win the Ullal by-election, said D V Sadanand Gowda, state president of BJP.

He was speaking at the press conference organized at BJP office in the city on Monday May 14.

“We have already started our campaign. In the last election, BJP lost with a narrow margin. This time we are confident of winning the election,” said he.

In the last elections, BJP was a divided house there and its leader had Jayaram Shetty had just left the party. But this time around he is back and would lead party’s campaign.  “On the other hand, Congress is a divided house now,” he said.

People of Ullal constituency are expecting political change now. In the last 7 years, MLA was present only on papers. In his name others were ruling Ullal.

BJP will go into campaign with development and nationalism as main agenda. The party has already started campaign in the constituency.  “We would visit every house from Tuesday May 15 onwards to explain the development work done by coalition government in the state. After May 23, deputy chief minister Yadiyurappa, BJP leaders Anantkumar, Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh will campaign in the constituency, said he.
