Suratkal, May 13:  MLA Krishna J Palemar has written to the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj Horatte and to minister for district in-charge B Nagaraj Shetty that in the in coming academic year villages like Mullakadu and Kannur should have high schools in his assembly constituency.

He released a copy of the letter to the press persons here on Saturday May 12, and said more that 300 students study in the government higher primary school at Mallakadu.

These students who hail from SC/ST have to go to Kavoor for further education which is 5 kms away from their village.

The same is the condition of the 450 students of Kannur who do not have a high school in their vicinity. This has also led to an increase of school dropouts.

Palemar said that due to the lack of a high school most of the students of these villages tend to discontinue their education and urged the minister concerned for initiating moves to set up high schools in these areas so that the students of these villages can continue their education unhindered.
