'Chalk N Duster' team throws Iftar party

Mumbai, July 4 (IANS): Juhi Chawla, Shabana Azmi, Girish Karnad, Upasana Singh and entire team of "Chalk N Duster" including cinematographer Baba Azmi celebrated Iftar party on its set here.

The team was gathered to shoot an important scene of the film, where Shabana Azmi was seen doing Ganesh Pooja with the assembled crowd.

The presence of Shabana and her brother Baba, who is also the director of photography for the film, triggered the idea of the Iftar party on the set.

"The iftar party is not a part of the script. Today we had a scene of Ganesh pooja and since Ramadan is going on and its time of Iftar so our producers thought of a small iftar party," Juhi said.

The actress added that she is proud to be born in "this beautiful country" where different religions "work, live together".

"On the same set we are doing Ganesh pooja and also respecting the month of Ramadan. This is possible only in our country and hence I am very proud and lucky to be born in this beautiful country. This all is very beautiful where Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Isai all work together, live together and this brotherhood is really very good," she added.

In the film Shabana Azmi is playing a teacher named Vidhya Sawant who is a great devotee of Lord Ganesha.

"Chalk n Duster" is the directorial of famed Bollywood make-up artist Subhash Singh. It revolves around the business of education.

The movie is penned by Ranjeev Varma, has music by Sandesh Shandilya with lyrics penned by Shabana's husband and seasoned writer Javed Akhtar.
