Lindsay Lohan finds cryotherapy 'amazing'

London, Jun 29 (IANS): Actress Lindsay Lohan, who had reportedly contracted the chikungunya virus in December 2014, has been undergoing cryotherapy to ease her pain. She finds it relieving and amazing.

The 28-year-old actress, who contracted the rare, untreatable disease from a mosquito bite in Bora Bora, shared images of herself and friend Brittany Byrd emerging from a -230 degree Fahrenheit chamber after receiving treatment, and admits she turned to the therapy to help with the joint pain she has suffered in recent months.

"I've started doing cryotherapy after I got the chikungunya virus. It's amazing. The virus I had attacks your joints and cryotherapy really helps," Lohan told Britain's HELLO! magazine, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The "Mean Girls" actress has also found other benefits to the chilly treatments.

"When I was doing community service in New York, from 8 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., I was having it once a day. It helps you sleep better and affects your functioning too. I like to be active all day, I love to cycle and walk," she added.

But with Lohan now living in London, her access to the treatment is more limited. She hopes a facility open soon in Britain.
