Kanye West's Glastonbury show interrupted by comedian

London, June 28 (IANS): Rapper Kanye West’s much-hyped performance at this year’s edition of Glastonbury Festival got interrupted after British comedian Simon Brodkin ran onto the stage in the middle of his gig.

The rapper was performing his hit single “Black skinhead” at the annual music event here on Saturday when Brodkin ran onto the stage, reports ew.com.

Brodkin, who is known for playing the character Lee Nelson, was holding a microphone and stood on stage for a moment with his hands in the air until West signaled to a member of security to escort him away. West then started his song over.

"Some people were saying Kanye shouldn't headline Glastonbury, so I thought I'd give him a hand," Brodkin tweeted after the event.

His post refers to some music fans feeling that West should not headline the festival, with thousands of people signing a Change.org petition asking for West to be replaced.

The incident bears similarity to West jumping up on stage at the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards to interrupt Taylor Swift's acceptance speech and say that Beyonce Knowles should have won the prize for best female video.
