Resul Pookutty dubs in Hindi for 'Gour Hari Dastaan'

Mumbai, Jun 25 (IANS): Oscar-winning sound mixer Resul Pookutty has dubbed in Hindi for the first time for the upcoming "Gour Hari Dastaan - The Freedom File".

He has dubbed a set of dialogues as gesture for director Anant Mahadevan, who wanted to use his voice in his film, according to a statement.

"Frankly, I was under the impression that director Anant was pulling a fast one on me when he asked me to dub a line for a tense scene in 'Gour Hari Dastaan - The Freedom File', but when I saw that he was serious I was taken aback, more so since he wanted me to dub in Hindi," Pookutty said.

"I was wary because I had a strong Malayalam accent. But Ananth was fine by that. His theory was that there were several Malayalees in Mumbai who spoke like me," he said.

Although Pookutty gave several takes, Mahadevan was happy with the first as he felt it was natural.

"The film now has my voice and I laugh every time I hear it, but Ananth considers it lucky," he added.

Scheduled to release on August 14, the film features Vinay Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Ranvir Shorey, Asrani, Rajit Kapur, Vipin Sharma, Saurabh Shukla, Vikram Gokhale, Mohan Kapur, Bharat Dabholkar and Siddharth Jadhav among others. The movie was screened at the Cannes International Film Festival and Beijing International Film Festival.
