Los Angeles, June 11 (IANS): Oscar winning producer Robert Chartoff, the man behind well known films like "Rocky" and "Raging Bull", is no more, his daughter said. He was 81.

Chartoff's daughter confirmed the news of his death on Wednesday. He had been sick with pancreatic cancer, reports ew.com.

"My father was amazing. He was an amazing father and person; there are no words. The important thing is that he died surrounded by his family," Chartoff's daughter Julie told CNN.

Lee was known for his collaboration with fellow producer Irwin Winkler. Each won an Academy Award for Best Picture thanks to the 1976 film "Rocky". Chartoff and Winkler went on to produce other instalments in the Sylvester Stallone boxing franchise through "Rocky V".

The duo also entered the ring on Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro's masterpiece "Raging Bull" and detailed the start of the space programme in "The Right Stuff", both of which were nominated for Best Picture category at the Oscars.
