Polish PM announces resignation of three ministers

Warsaw, Jun 11 (IANS): Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz on Wednesday announced the resignation of three ministers of her government, Xinhua reported.

Those who resigned included Bartosz Arlukowicz from the ministry of health, Wlodzimierz Karpinski from the ministry of finance and Andrzej Biernat from the ministry of sport and tourism.

The vice-ministers from the relevant departments also asked for their dismissal.

"I talked to people, who were eavesdropped (in 2014 and whose recording were made public last year). We all came to the conclusion that we cannot wait any more," Kopacz said.

In the light of the upcoming Polish parliamentary elections in Fall 2015, Kopacz added: "I will not allow anyone to use these tapes against Civic Platform."

Apart from the ministers and vice-ministers, for dismissal asked the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, Jacek Rostowski and Jacek Cichocki, the coordinator of the Special Forces.

At the press conference on Wednesday Kopacz said that Chichocki had taken the responsibility for the inadequate and ineffective work of the special forces.
