Ex-servicemen meet Jaitley over OROP

New Delhi, Jun 10 (IANS): Ex-servicemen on Wednesday met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over implementation of 'One Rank, One Pension', but the meeting did not yield any result.

Chairman of the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement Maj. Gen. Satbir Singh (retd) told IANS that the meeting was good, but they did not get any assurance on the timeline for implementation of the OROP.

"We met the finance minister and explained to him our view. We said the government must not change the definition of 'One Rank, One Pension'," he said.

The ex-servicemen were accompanied by union minister and former army chief Gen. (retd) V.K. Singh and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, also an ex-army man.

"The meeting was positive as far as understanding each other's view points is concerned, he also suggested we have some more meetings," said Satbir Singh.

"There is only one definition of OROP and there cannot be another view."

The army veteran added there was no change in plan on an agitation from June 14 and a hunger strike from June 15.
