Lucknow, June 9 (IANS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday dissociated himself from the arrest of Delhi Law Minister Jitendra Tomar.
The ministry of home affairs did not involve itself in such matters, he told media here.
Arrests are not made on directives of the MHA, he clarified.
His statement comes amid a raging controversy in the union capital where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders alleged that Rajnath Singh was in the loop and that the ministry was actively involved in the arrest of Tomar.
Delhi's law minister was arrested earlier in the day on charges of fabricating his education degree.
The AAP has alleged that this was being done at the behest of the Narendra Modi government to destablize the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi.
