Himachal CM condemns Manipur killings


Shimla, June 5 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday condemned the militant attack on an army convoy in Manipur that killed 18 soldiers, six of them from the state.

"A few anti-social elements ... will not achieve (their) ulterior motives by such cowardly acts," Singh said in a statement, while conveying his condolences to the soldiers' families.

Eighteen soldiers were killed and 11 injured when militants ambushed their convoy in Manipur's Chandel district on Thursday.
