Bihar bans Maggi for one month


Patna, June 5 (IANS): The Bihar government on Friday banned Maggi noodles for one month, an official said.

Bihar's Food Safety Commissioner Anand Kishore told the media here that the state government decided to ban Maggi after getting results of the 16 samples of Maggi instant noodles collected in Bihar and sent to a Kolkata laboratory for testing.

"During the ban period, Maggi will be neither sold in the shops and malls, nor will it be on display," he said.

Kishore said officials of the food safety department will collect samples of Maggi from across the state in next three to four days.
