Monsoon set to hit Kerala


Thiruvananthapuram, June 5 (IANS): Many parts of Kerala have received heavy rainfall and monsoon is likely to hit the state in a day or two.

Rains lashed most of Kerala since Thursday night.

On Friday, a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department said many places in Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Tamilnadu saw thunderstorms since Thursday night.

"The rainfall activity over Kerala has increased. Winds over southeast Arabian sea are also becoming favourable," said the morning bulletin.

"The conditions are favourable for onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala during next 48 hours," it said.

Moderate to heavy rainfall was seen here on Friday morning.
