Pradhan meets West Asian oil ministers at OPEC Summit

Vienna, June 4 (IANS): Indian Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday met his counterparts from Iran, Iraq, Qatar and UAE here to discuss further cooperation on the oil and gas front.

"Had a good interaction with minister of energy of Qatar; India imports 40 mmscmd (million metric standard cubic metre per day) LNG from Qatar," Pradhan tweeted after meeting the Qatari minister Mohammed Saleh Abdullah Al Sada.

Pradhan is attending the Sixth OPEC Seminar here and has asked the oil producing and exporting countries for "fair pricing".

He also tweeted about meeting his Iranian counterpart.

"Had a fruitful meeting with minister of oil and gas of Iran (Bijan Namdar Zanganeh); agreed on need to explore areas of cooperation in oil & gas", he tweeted.

Pradhan also tweeted about having "identified several new areas of cooperation" after a dialogue with the United Arab Emirate's Energy Minister Suhail Mohhammed Al Mazrouei.

The Indian state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and UAE-based investment firm Mubadala have recently joined hands to jointly invest in upstream projects in developing countries.

Pradhan also met Iraqi Oil Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.

"Met oil minister of Iraq; agreed to work on all areas of oil & gas," he said in another tweet.

Iraq is India's second largest source of crude oil imports.
