Odisha sends Maggi for testing

Bhubaneswar, June 3 (IANS): The Odisha government on Wednesday said it has sent samples of Maggi noodles to a laboratory in Pune for testing its lead content.

Health and Family Welfare secretary Arati Ahuja said the samples had been sent to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) accredited Central Food Laboratory.

The product allegedly contains lead beyond permissible amount.

"We have collected 25 Maggi noodles samples from 14 districts... The department will take appropriate action after getting the test report," said Ahuja.

States like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Kerala have started taking action against the sale of Maggi noodles.
