Rajnath for early work on mobile towers in Maoist-hit areas


New Delhi, Jun 2 (IANS): Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called for expeditious completion of work concerning installation of mobile towers in Maoist-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, an official statement said on Monday.

According to a home ministry release, the minister, who paid two-day visit to the Maoist affected areas of the state and interacted with personnel of paramilitary forces and state police, "directed the installation of mobile towers by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) be expedited, particularly in Sukma district".

Singh also said that new post offices will be opened in the three worst Maoist-affected districts of south Bastar - Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada.

He called for expeditious steps for making road requirement plan in consultation with the road transport and highways ministry.

The release said he also called for opening schools and hostels, new bank branches and expansion of radio and TV coverage in these areas.
