Maggi probe widens, casts shadow on Amitabh, Madhuri

New Delhi, June 2 (DHNS) : Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit were on Monday warned of action by the Modi government if advertisements of Maggi noodles featuring them were found to be misleading.

The warning comes at a time when the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) widened the probe by testing samples of Maggi noodles, a Nestle product, from across states for alleged lapses of food safety standards. The test reports were expected in the next two or three days.

Officials said the brand ambassadors for the popular snack could be in trouble if it was established that they “knowingly” promoted sub-standard products.

Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramvilas Paswan said the Food and Drug Authority had found monosodium glutamate and lead in the samples it had collected in the state.

Nestle has maintained that it does not agree with the UP food regulator’s order and it “is filing the requisite representations with the authorities”.

A case has been lodged against Nestle India in a Barabanki court over safety standards of Maggi. Actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta were also dragged to court for promoting the brand. “Yes, they would be liable for action if the advertisements are found to be misleading.

“It becomes a misleading advertisement if it is found that the product does not have the attributes that the manufacturer professed. And if the brand ambassador has promoted that product and said specifically that the product has those attributes, they are also certainly liable for action,” G Gurucharan, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, said here.

I think present NDA government is responsible for this addition of lead and MSG into noodles. How come something which was not there earlier has now been detected!?. Government should immediately resign and elections should be called for.

Before we get to any conclusions REMEMBER

Amitabh Bachchan is the ambassador of Gujarat Tourism the statement:
'Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit were on Monday warned of action by the MODI GOVERNMENT if advertisements of Maggi noodles featuring them were found to be misleading.' needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Has the big 'B' fallen out of grace with Mr. Modi? If not I might hesitantly say that Maggi or Nestle have already been exonerated from this crime. All this is part of the game plan.

and to all of us mostly the poor Indians......
We contribute to the coffers of Bollywood and all the superstars therein, we are responsible for all the lies that these actors/actresses as well as the cricketers impose on us and our homes.

Remember the 1 crore AD fee paid to actors or Cricketers to promote any product comes from our pocket. Nothing is paid by the manufacturer. The MRP paid by us Indians is inclusive of all charges including the interest paid on bank loans by the manufacturers.

There is growing competition in the instant noodles business in India with a lot of new brands in the market. It appears that these new brands cannot compete with the immense popularity of multinational company Nestle's Maggi noodles. So competitors (may be some A-'mbani' or A-'dani' etc.) seem to be using help from UP and other state governments to pull down Nestle's Maggi with these allegations.
Maggi has been in India for ages. Did these people wake up just now ?
Anyway, Nestle are doing their own independent tests with a neutral party. Results will tell the truth and the government can then challenge it if they wish to.

Nagesha, your comments seem to be the aftereffects of excessive cow urine consumption.

First off, Nestle the producer of Maggi isn't Italian, it's Swiss.

Secondly, do you remember Modi's meeting with Indira Nooyi, CEO of Pepsico, as per whose vision Pepsico is going to invest 33k Crores in India. Now before chanting Jai ho, think about this: Pepsi' s ex brand ambassador Sr. Bachchan (currently Modi's Gujrath brand ambassador) after making his crores, when he was through with contract called Pepsi a poison at IIM A. And now our PM welcomes 33k Crores investment on this poison!

Mostly, products which are ordinary, mediocre or poor need to be marketed/advertised aggressively. Hence a big celebrity like Amitabh was chosen to advertise for Gujarat Tourism.
Do beautiful places like Simla, Kashmir, Kulu etc. need any brand ambassador to attract tourism ? Obviously not.

Unlike Companies and governments, missionaries do not make money by converting people. So this comparison falls flat on it's bumps.

Dont forcefully bring religion into your comments. As far the comment on which religion is more good compared to others is reflects very immature and petty thinking. Grow up please !
