Light rain brings relief to Delhiites, Tuesday to be same


New Delhi, June 1 (IANS): Delhi received spells of light rain on Monday evening, giving people much needed relief from the scorching heat over the past week.

The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average.

The Met department has forecast a partly overcast Tuesday with light rain in several parts of the city.

"Delhi till Monday evening has received 1.2 mm rainfall. The light rain is likely to continue. Tuesday is likely to be partly overcast," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Tuesday's maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 37 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Monday was partly overcast noon onwards and the minimum temperature settled at 25.9 degrees, two notches below the season's average.

Sunday's maximum temperature settled at 40.6 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the minimum was recorded a level above the season's average at 28.9 degrees.
