Vegetarian Chief Minister blocks eggs in anganwadis

Jun 1 (Agencies): In a startling revelation it has come to light that the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has blocked eggs in anganwadi meals just because he is a strict vegetarian.

In the tribal areas of Alirajpur, Mandla and Hoshangabad districts, where children suffer from malnutrition, eggs would have been a rich source of protein in their diet.

However, when the Chief Minister's permission was sought for including eggs in the anganwadi meals, he immediately turned down the proposal, according to an Indian Express report.

Chouhan also made it clear that eggs would not be served in the anganwadis as long as he is the Chief Minister of the state.

Clarifying the same, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, S K Mishra said that it's a sentimental issue with Chouhan.

Cooking for school children at mass means cooking to wide range of students from all communities. So Menu needs to take care of Hygine, Nutrition and also cultural background of everyone. Just because you belong to Congress, do not have to have everything which BJP does. Our responsibility as Indian Citizen deserves more maturity from us...

The marriage functions offering vegetarian dishes for the guests is due to the respect of the hosts towards the guests, but the egg eating ban is just the contrary.

It is quite sad to see reaction from some of the readers here.

Even though i have a little objection to this move, but i agree from their viewpoints as well...

For any mass program such as school lunch, we need to respect and decide taking all religion into consideration.

Pork and Beef are having much protein than Egg. Does it mean we need to introduce this to Indian school children..??

Involving Pork hurts sentiments of Muslims, Including Beef hurts Hindu sentiments and Non Vegetarian itself impacts multiple Jains, Vaishnav and other communities. So Vegetarian is a best and problem free option to ensure respect to communities are upheld..

Sometime these decissions are not easy, but not bad even....

All these religious sentiments using the sword of food? If the CM doesn't like to eat eggs, nobody can force that on him, but he is forcing others to eat what he likes, the cruel fun of controlling people!

Let some Jain believers make an issue about onion and roots so that the rest of the population must stop eating onion and roots. Religious sentiments!
They have the right to eat the onion free and root free food, but imposing that habit on others through playing the religious card is the biggest contradiction.

What kind of a political insanity is this? Plants have life, Chicken-buffalo-goats-lamb etc have life, so don't eat them at all. Also don't eat vegetables, they are growing because they have life. Let the people of India starve to death the systematic population control, wonderful accomplishment of the BJP ruled States of India.

Economically India is certainly a 'developing nation' but socially India is still a very backward country, not only with the people in the rural areas but also the so called Urban educated class. We still hear of things like 'Honour killings', 'Dowry harassment & deaths', Segregation of eating/living spaces for people of different castes, forceful banning of food items, religious discrimination, superstition, blind belief in 'god men' etc.etc. which are only a few examples of these social evils.
It is this social backwardness which will put the brakes on our economic progress/development.
Politicians actually thrive on this social backwardness for their vested interests.

    DICTATORSHIP!

Shivraj Chauhan should know that India is a Democratic nation and as per the constitution, Indians have right to eat and express their thoughts without any bondage.

The problem with upper caste vegetarian BJP leaders is that they decide what people should eat and not eat.

This is NAZI style FASCISM by BJP.

dont be dumb.. I never said dont eat egg! I said eat egg with your money!... dont have to give free if that is not used by all sections of society!.... if I give something for free, all should use it irrespective of caste creed sex religion!.. that is when it becomes impartial scheme!... free wifi, free kerosene, or free akki - should be for all!.. tomorro if they say I will give free onion, I will protest, cos Jains or few brahmins may not want it!..

Jains dont eat Onions, for their religions views of bulbs, stems, underground can not be eaten, while plucking them u might have killed so many Jeevis- it is not ahimsa is what they preach!... I am not a Jain and I have no problem in it, and I am not going diss them for that!.. their view, let us respect it!..

Siddu may come with different Religion based MOTTE< BEEF, PORK CHOPS BHAGYA!! let courts and constituiopn decide its validity!
