NDA has cut defence expenditure: Antony

New Delhi, May 23 (IANS): Former defence minister A.K. Antony on Saturday accused the NDA government of compromising on national security by cutting the defence budget.

"The present government has compromised our national security. The defence expenditure this year is the lowest in the recent years," Congress leader Antony said at a press conference.

He said the allocation for the defence ministry in the current fiscal was the lowest since 2009.

"In terms of defence, the NDA is worst performer. It has the lowest expenditure on defence, spent Rs.10,000 crore less than the UPA," he said.
