Teenagers take a 'Walk' to highlight social issues

New Delhi, May 23 (IANS): Twelve teenagers cames together on stage to convey their stories of struggle, social issues that affect them most and the changes they dream of. 'Walk!' - a collaborative production inspired by the stories, struggles, dreams and hopes of the group was presented at the Studio Safdar here on Saturday.

The group, facilitated by Tasawwur – a collective of artists and educators, brings the lives and stories of the cast member on stage; while no one played their own part, the stories are all true.

The show brought together song, choreography, tableaus and stories that took the audience to the world that these young people inhabit.

The show was born out of a four-month intensive arts-for-social change curriculum in which 12 teenagers, cutting across caste, class, gender, religion and nationality came together to teach each other about the social norms they face everyday.

Tasawwur, which was started by Delhi based poet and educator Aditi Rao, brings together a diverse group of teenagers in Delhi to explore and transform some of the complex social issues they grapple with.
