Brothers die in Delhi road accident


New Delhi, May 23 (IANS): Two brothers died here and three of their friends suffered injuries when their car jumped a divider, hit an ambulance and fell into a canal, Delhi Police said on Saturday.

The accident took place on Friday night near Dharamshila Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area.

Deepak, 20, Pawan, 18, Kuldeep, 22, Ravish, 19, and Sunny, 20 left their homes in a car for a joy ride, police said, adding that the driver lost control of the vehicle near the hospital and it jumped the divider.

"After jumping the divider, the car hit an ambulance and fell into a canal. Passers-by made a call to police," said a police officer.

Deepak and Pawan, both brothers, were declared dead after they were taken out of the canal while Kuldeep, Ravish, and Sunny were discharged after first aid.

All five were residents of Trilokpuri area in east Delhi.
