New Delhi, May 22 (IANS): An 11-year-old boy from Bihar living in shelter homes in the national capital has been reunited with his family, Delhi Police said here on Wednesday.

He had run away from his house after being scolded by his father for damaging the SIM card of a mobile phone.

"He was admitted in Salam Balak Trust (a children's home) in Tis Hazari by the local police of Kashmiri Gate police station on May 10. At the time of admission, he did not disclose his address and other whereabouts," Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.

Yadav said the boy was taken into confidence by policemen later.

"After compassionate persuasive conversation again and again, he gave the information about his uncle residing in Gurgaon and we managed to reunite him with his family," Yadav said.

During inquiry, Yadav said, it was found that the boy belonged to a poor family having one sister and three brothers.

"He is eldest among them. His father is a labourer. He was scolded by his father as he damaged the mobile phone SIM card. At this he became angry and decided not to live with their parents. On May 8, he left his house without disclosing anybody the destination."

"He reached at his local railway station in Bihar and boarded the train. He reached Old Delhi Railway Station on May 10 and came into contact with local police at car parking. But he did not reveal his identity," Yadav said.

Besides this boy, Delhi Police have till date reunited 90 children with their families under "Operation Milap", a special drive launched on December 18, 2014, by its Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU).

"Our officers would check each and every missing child across various children's shelter homes, railway stations and other places. We would undertake all possible efforts to get clues about their parents so that they are reunited with their families," he said.
