Delhi businessman dies as car catches fire

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS): A 23-year-old businessman was burnt to death when the car he was driving collided with a tree and caught fire on Friday morning, police said.

The man identified as Sarang Narayan was the owner of a hotel at Paschim Vihar in west Delhi and resided with his family in central Delhi's Rajendra Nagar.

The accident was reported around 5.30 a.m. from Inderpuri area of west Delhi.

"Narayan left from home for a 'gurdwara' around 5 a.m. in his car. When he reached near Inderpuri, he lost control and the car collided with a tree, resulting in the sudden fire," said a police officer.

"The blaze spread so quickly that neither was Narayan able to open the door from inside nor could the people, trying to help him, open the door from outside," he added.

According to an eyewitness, either the doors of the car got jammed or Narayan got panicked.

By the time fire tenders arrived at the spot and doused the fire, Narayan was totally charred.
