Mamata pays tribute to Rajiv Gandhi

Kolkata, May 21 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Thursday paid tributes to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 24th death anniversary.

"Fondly remembering Rajiv Gandhiji on the day he left us. Gone but not forgotten," tweeted Banerjee.

Gandhi, who was prime minister from 1984 to 1989, was assassinated at an election rally near Chennai by a woman suicide bomber of the now vanquished Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
