Modi government is suit, boot, loot sarkar: Raj Babbar

Jammu, May 20 (IANS): Bollywood actor and Congress leader Raj Babbar on Wednesday alleged that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a "suit, boot and loot Sarkar".

Addressing media persons here, Raj Babbar accused the central government of having failed to fulfil its electoral promises even after completing one year in office.

"Prime Minister, Maharaja Narendra Modi-led government is a suit, boot and loot sarkar.

"At the time of elections, Modi Maharaja announced that his government will create 25 crore employment opportunities for the youth which meant about five crore jobs in one year.

"Please show the country after completing one year in office how many jobs have been created," Babbar asked.

He said if the performance of the central government is to be measured in terms of sound bytes on television channels during the last one year, then the government had been successful.

"But, if you measure the performance in terms of honouring their promises the BJP government has been an utter failure in every sector, be it education, health, women's safety, economy or social welfare," he said.

"Before the elections, Modi had criticized the then foreign minister for going to China after Chinese intrusions on our territory.

"Modi made a trip to China, despite these intrusions," he said.

Expressing concern at the state of the economy today, he said inflation had skyrocketed.

"Prices of pulses, milk, mustard oil, vanaspati, everything have skyrocketed. Onion and tomato prices are higher than last year.

"The prices of all these essential commodities were much less last year in the previous regime", he said.

State Congress chief G.A. Mir was, however, absent during the press conference while senior local Congress leaders Sham Lal Sharma and Raman Bhalla attended it.
